On 20 December 2017, the Andrews Government announced its plans to demolish Federation Square’s Yarra Building to make way for an Apple store.
This decision has sparked widespread outrage and disregards what makes Fed Square successful: its vibrant mix of public spaces and its primary stakeholders, the people of Victoria.
We believe that any change to the public spaces of our city must be transparent, follow democratic processes and deliver broad public benefits. In addition, any change to Federation Square must align with its Civic and Cultural Charter.
As advocates for public space, we are passionate about stopping this megastore through our campaign – Our City, Our Square.
